West Kenya Union (WKUC) staff participate in an outreach Sabbath program at Lala, District, Homabay

On the 16th September 2017, the staff at West Kenya Union (WKUC) headquarters participated in an outreach Sabbath program at Lala, District, Homabay within the Ranen Conference.

This is an event spearheaded by the worship committee of the West Kenya Union Conference (WKUC) and organized annually. Apart from the entire WKUC staff, Elder Dan Agwena, an ECD associate treasurer and members of staff from Ranen Conference were also in attendance.

During their visit, the union staff took charge of the Sabbath service from Sabbath school all through to the sundowner, giving the residents a feel of the blessings and that come with hosting the people of God.

Pr. Japheth Ochorokodi, the Executive Secretary of the Union was the speaker of the day, and he delivered a powerful sermon based on John 14:1-3: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

The people of God did not only enjoy the warmth of worship, but also shared meals and bible on different topics including importance of stewardship from the union stewardship director, Pr. Samuel Omollo Ayugi and a reminder to parents about the importance of obedience from Ephesians 6:1-2 by the union family life director Pr. John Tuwei.

Furthermore, the people of Lala church had a free medical camp organized by the union’s Health Ministry department, Kendu Adventist hospital staff, the health director from KLC and staff from Ranen Health Center. These people worked tirelessly to ensure that the members received free medical attention in the afternoon hours of the day.

This worship comes after the union’s last year’s visit to Muchi in North West Kenya Conference which saw a whole church converted to the Adventist faith. None of the members was left unbaptized after the worship that Sabbath.

In addition to these wonderful blessings, Lala Church also received a one hundred thousand shillings’ donation towards the purchase of a public-address system.

WKUC does this and more in fulfilment of the great commission that Christ left for His church in Mathew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

At the end of the day, Lala church members expressed their joy and appreciated the contribution the union staff made.

Lala SDA church is the hosting district of the proposed Lake Victoria Field carved from part of Kenya Lake Conference and Ranen Conference, forming part of the greater West Kenya Union Conference.
